Bonn Shirt

Last week, I tested a new pattern for Kennis of Itch-to-Stitch Designs. Today, she released the Bonn Shirt and Dress pattern, so I can share my rendition of it!

I made the shirt version of the pattern, though I’m totally eyeing the dress version for the future. I chose the 3/4 sleeve, though there are short, long, and flare sleeve options too. All the sleeves have looked really great on all of the testers. The fabric I chose was a black poly-something that I had bought for something else I never got around to. bonn shirt | basic stitch

I’ll admit that I was a bit nervous when I saw that this pattern is not very fitted at the waist, but I’m very pleased with the outcome. I think the reason I like my shirts fitted at the waist is because I typically can’t find things that fit my hips and waist very well, so I prefer to have some definition at the waist to make it look like I actually have one. The nice thing about sewing, though, is that I can make something that fits MY body. And while I’m still figuring out what works best for me and my body as far as style is concerned, I love this journey. Someday, I will have a wardrobe full of things that flatter me and fit me and it will be glorious!

For the Bonn Shirt, I cut size 0D, and graded to a size 4 for the hips. It fits marvelously, and is so incredibly comfortable to wear. I highly recommend this pattern and I can’t wait to make more. I already have fabric ready for another once things settle down for me. The pattern is incredibly versatile and that makes it all the more fun. I can see a lot of different variations for this pattern and I’m looking forward to what else I can come up with

I wore my new Bonn Shirt out to the lake this weekend (with my Zooey Bikini) and it was fabulous!
